Morocco: Majestic

Posted on 22/11/2018 by Whitestar Travel

Often touted as the gateway to Africa, Morocco is more than a place to pass through, it is somewhere to get lost in.

Visions from Laurence of Arabia dance through our minds, with endless deserts, incredible mountains and ancient cities prominent, but what really sets Morocco apart is the people and their warm hospitality.

Sitting with the locals, drinking tea or coffee, and people-watching in one of the many bazaars will become a favourite pastime for any visitor. Time will slow down as you apparently travel back through it and watch carpet merchants haggle with locals and tourists alike.

The High Atlas Mountains are famous worldwide, where the wandering Berber tribesmen, their goats and infinite night skies abound.

The Saharan dunes is also going to be high on any agenda. Going on a camel trek and camping beneath the stars will have you dreaming of ancient traders and romantic stories from the past. Remember to pack warm clothing though, as hot days can quickly turn into freezing nights.

The majesty of star-studded Casablanca calls all to it. Combining glitzy urban design, with its ancient heart, it is simply stunning. Take a few days there to explore the grand vistas and different blend of faces and sounds that make Morocco so unique.

The traditional way of life is what draws most to Morocco and a trip to countryside to explore smaller towns and meet the locals can be a truly extraordinary experience. It is recommended you organise a good local guide for such an adventure beforehand though, to make sure you don’t get led astray.

Take a tour with Intrepid.

Fly to Casablanca with Air France via Paris for $1,490* or with Etihad via Abu Dhabi for $1,890*.
