TTC Talks – Ethical Travel

Posted on 24/09/2014 by Trish White

Ethical

Thursday, September 25th @ 6:30pm
We travellers have tremendous opportunities—to connect with new people, experience diverse cultures, and broaden our perspectives about the world and our place within it. Tourism has the ability to pump needed dollars into local economies and promote mutual respect and understanding. But mass tourism can also reinforce stereotypes, wreak environmental havoc, and impact cultures without the locals’ consent. Held two days before World Tourism Day on September 27, Sydney Travel Massive and the Travel Cafe are hosting a roundtable discussion on the ethical, responsible, and sustainable side of travel. We’ll ask local experts in the responsible travel world to weigh in on what they do to help foreign cultures and reduce their impact, and offer tips on how we can all “vote with our wings” to promote positive experiences for the visitors and the visited.
